About Me

I'm a Utah mom, just trying to make ends meet. Several years ago, I was introduced to a new way of couponing. I've been addicted ever since. I have a hard time paying full price for anything anymore.

I love couponing so much, I decided to become a teacher for Grocery Smarts.

I teach free classes and show you how to get everything you need at the grocery store and still leave $$$ in your pocket. I'll also teach you the best ways to get and organize your coupons. The best part of the class is when I show you how to match your current coupons up with the current local sales - getting the most bang for your buck!

Sweeeet! I saved 59% today!

I've really neglected the blog lately. I never thought a house, a husband and three kids could really stretch me that far, but it has - so please forgive me :0)

I was really excited today when I walked out of Smith's having paid less than what I saved. Today is the last day of the sale and I was really hoping that they would still have cereal left. I was pleasantly surprised and just about cleared the remaining boxes from their end cap.

Yep - that's 32 boxes of Rice and Corn Chex and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. My husband's favorite cereal is Rice Chex and when you can get it for $0.99 a box - it's worth stocking up on. This seems to be the only time of year when it goes on sale too. I hope in the coming weeks there will be more Chex cereal sales and more coupons in the newspaper. I'll buy even more to keep my husband supplied throughout the year - he's a big cereal eater and could finish 1 box in 2 to 3 days.

I also bought 2 pkts of brown gravy, 1 Symphony bar (as a thank you for a friend), 1 gallon of oj and 3 Christmas calendars. Now I need to tuck those away so they don't get opened and eaten before Dec. 1.

I spent a total of $49.70 and saved $68.11, a savings of 59%. Pretty Sweeet if you ask me!

I've also heard that the sale starting tomorrow at Smiths is a pretty good one. Check here for all the 4 and 5 star deals.

Smith's is really coming on board :)

If you haven't already heard - Smith's is doing another double coupon event. It will run from 7/28 (6:00 am) to 7/31 (midnight). If you haven't participated in their double coupon days, you'll certainly want to. You are maximizing your coupon buying power and getting sooo much more for less $$.

So here's how it will work: Any coupon you bring in that is less than $1.00 will have its value brought up to $1.00.

So a coupon worth $.10 = $1.00

$.25 = $1.00

$.55 = $1.00

$.75 = $1.00

The shopping lists have not come out yet so matchups are still a bit of a mystery. In the meantime, one of my favorite things to do is use the Grocery Smarts alphabetical list of coupons and do a quick review of the things I need to fill in my pantry and clip those coupons. This list is very handy when stores do this kind of sale.

So stay tuned........I'm sure I'll be posting those matchups lists soon! I'm loving Smith's more and more :0)

Smith's Show and Tell

It's been a while since I've posted one of my shopping trips. I went to Smith's today and picked up some pretty good deals.

I spent a total of $56.70 and saved $40.97 ~ WOOT, WOOT!!!

Here's what I got:

8 boxes of Honeycomb - my kids favorite ($1.00 each)

6 boxes of Honey Bunches of Oats - my husband's favorite ($1.00 each)

4 bags Lays potato chips ($.99 each, SS 3/14)

1 lb Kroger butter (I had a Kroger coupon for $.55 off, paid $1.12)

2 doz Kroger eggs ($.99 each, could have gotten them cheaper, but it's one stop shopping this week)

3 bags of Hershey's Easter Candy (SS 3/14)

1 bag of hashbrowns

1 box of hashbrown patties

1 box of Chicken in a Bisket crackers

1 bottle of Tide (I had a coupon from Smith's for $1.00 off, paid $4.88)

1 pkg of Chipmates cookies (I had a coupon from Smiths, can't remember what it was)

2 Wishbone salad dressings (RP 3/28, $.75 each)

1 pkg Mento's gum (I had a coupon from Smiths - can't remember what it was either)

4 Easter basket toys (they were already on clearance)

Not bad for stocking up! The Post cereal sale is pretty good, buy 4 items and get $4 back at the register. Use the coupons from SS 2/28 and SS 3/14, it makes the boxes of cereal each $1.00. Also, if you are buying the Cocoa or Fruity pebbles, there's a catalina offer at Smiths. Buy 4 boxes and get a $3.00 catalina (register coupon) back. You can do several of these transactions, but don't use you cereal catalina's to turn around and pay for any of your Post cereal. If you do this you won't get another catalina. Use your catalina's to pay for the rest of your groceries!

By the time I got to the store this morning all the Pebbles were gone :( Don't forget you can ask for a raincheck.

Hope you can cash in on some of the Smith's deals this week!

Good Things Utah and PYP

As a busy mom, I don't get a chance to watch some of the fun shows I'd like to watch during the day, but I did catch a segment on Good Things Utah this morning.

Rebecca Pickett of PYP, was back to talk about the Smith's Daytona sale. She spelled it out so easily and walked you through the ease of using online coupons and matching them up with a local sale.

Check out the video clip from GTU this morning and you too, can take advantage of this great sale.

Remember: you can only print 2 online coupons (for each item) per computer. Never, never, never copy an online coupon. Fraud hurts all of us - especially when stores limit or will not take online coupons anymore.

If you haven't had a chance to check out Pinching Your Pennies website - it's well worth it.

Good Luck - take advantage of this great sale this week!

A sale that is finally worth a handful of coupons!

If you've noticed it's been a while since I've blogged. There's nothing like having sick kids and being sick yourself. I think we're on the mend so I'll be keeping up better :0)

In my downtime, I've watched many blog about the great Smith's Mega Sale. So last night I spent some time clipping and organizing my coupons. I was truly thrilled to have a handful by the time I was done. Now that Albertsons is gone, it's been a long time since I've been able to do this.

Here's what I got:

4 boxes of Capri Sun

6, 8oz bags Kraft cheese (I put these in the freezer for later)

8 cans Hormel chili

2 bags of Pepperidge Farms Goldfish

4 Sobe Waters

2, 1/2 gallon OJ

2 boxes of Nature Valley granola bars

4 boxes of Nabisco crackers (2 Ritz, 2 Wheat Thins)

10 Hershey candy bars

4 Toaster Strudels

5 Krusteaz cookie mixes

2 Nestle refridgerator cookies (I love to freeze these)

3 pkgs of Solo Bowls
3 pkgs of Solo plates
3 pkgs of Solo cups
5 boxes of Finish (Electrasol) dishwasher tablets (I prefer the tablets over the gel packs. If I only do one dishwasher cycle per day - this will last me at least 3 months!)

I handed the checker my Smith's Grocery Card at the end and noticed prior to scanning it, my total was $199.xx (YIKES)! After scanning it, the price dropped to $122.xx (still a little scary) and after all the coupons were scanned my grand total came to $77.25. This is a 62% savings (according to my receipt). I'm pretty stoked.

Most of what I bought today will go into my storage rotation. I have to say it's been a long time since I was able to stock up on some of the items I got today. I live for these kinds of sales!

It's not too late to take advantage of this great sale. It will run one more week. Hope you can get some great savings as well :0)

Emerald Dry Roasted Peanuts & Hershey candy bars - Smiths

Smiths has their Emerald Dry Roasted peanuts (some were lightly salted as well) on sale for $.50 (YES - $.50 for a 16 oz plastic bottle). I picked some us yesterday even though the sale started today. You should be able to find them near the sale items for the week. These would make great gifts or even to put down in your food storage. The bottles I bought were good through May of 2011!~

They are on sale for $1.50 a bottle, but each (0r most) of the bottles have a $1.00 coupon on top (make sure to grab those bottles) and it makes each bottle $.50. The ad mentioned "while supplies last" so I'd get there quick to grab this great deal!

***I also noticed that Smiths had their large Hershey's candy bars on sale 5 for $5 - another popular gift and treat this time of year.***

E-coupons on your Smiths/Kroger card

I've blogged about this before, but it's always worth repeating! Now that Albertson's has officially closed their doors in Utah (except for a few locations - here's a link to a friends blog for exact locations that are still open) the options for grocery shopping are limited. If you're like me, I always want a good deal.

Smith's sells Kroger brands. Did you know that you can automatically load coupons onto your Smith's card?

Here are a few links where you can load your Smith's card number into the system and fill it with coupons so when you go shopping and scan your card, it automatically gives you the coupon discount. No cutting, clipping or headache at the register. Easy Peasy!

Smith's is serving up some good deals this week

It feels like I haven't been grocery shopping in weeks. I guess I've picked up a few of the perishables and that's all. As I looked over the grocery lists this week, Smiths' seemed to have a lot of the things I was looking for. Here's a couple of pictures of what I picked up.

1 8 pk of Coke

1 loaf of Country Oven bread

5 bottles of Softsoap (these were $.64 each w/coupons from SS 3/29 - expires 4/18/09)

2 bottles of Kroger Alcohol

1 bottle of Kroger Hydrogen Peroxide

1 gallon of Minute Maid orange juice

1 box Kellogs Apple Jacks (each box of Kellogs cereal was $.68 w/coupons from RP 4/5 - expires 5/17/09)

1 box Kellogs Pops ($.68)

1 box Kellogs Fruit Loops (.$68)

4 bottles Suave shampoo/conditioner (3 bottles were $.30 each w/coupon from RP 3/1 and one bottle was $.88 - expires 5/24/09)

10 cups of Yoplait yogurt

6 Totino's pizzas

5 Grill Mates seasonings (FREE w/coupon RP 3/15 -expires 5/31/09)

1 head of broccoli

1 box Kellogs Raisin Bran Crunch ($.68)

1 box Kellogs Special K blueberry ($.68)

3 oranges

1 bunch of bananas

2 bags Don Julio corn chips

1 Pillsbury cresent rolls

1 bag of grapes

I paid $48.14 and saved $22.14 (that's 45%). I purchased 48 items, so that was about $1.00 per item. For not having gone shopping in a while - this was a pretty good trip to the store.

Want to share your great deals? Email me at callmestacy@yahoo.com and I'll post it!

*** Stay tuned, I signed up with a co-op and am getting my first delivery of fruits and vegetables on Saturday morning. I will post pictures and details when I get it. ***

My latest shopping trip

It seems like forever since I've posted a shopping trip. What's wrong with me???? So I went to Smiths yesterday and did pretty well. I had a bunch of coupons and an additional coupon for $10 off my next shopping trip from Smiths for buying so many baby products over time.

Here's what I ended up with:

5 (large boxes) Cinnamon Toast crunch

4 (large boxes) Honey Nut Cherrios

2 boxes Wheat Thins

1 box Triscuits

2 boxes of Oven bags

5 jars Gerber baby food

8 (large cans) Dole Mandarin Oranges

1 bag of Kroger hashbrowns

1 bunch of bananas

1 bag of Dole salad mix

1 bag of Sweets candy (I love chocolate covered cinnamon bears)

1 box of Reynolds Parchment

1 Hen turkey (we're going away for Thanksgiving so we don't get any leftovers - I'll cook this bird at a later date)

There was also some chicken and potato wedges (my dinner) that aren't pictured

Total I spent $54.97 and saved $56.01. I purchased 38 items and spent on average $1.45 per item. Smiths is running a promotion that if you spend $25 in their store you can purchase a hen (private selection) turkey for $6, a tom (private selection) for $8 and a Butterball tom for $12. I paid $6 for my turkey - this is definately something to be thankful for.
